OutriggerSports USA offers a supportive environment designed to help our membership attain their skill building and competitive paddling goals. Outrigger canoeing is challenging sport that rewards paddlers with great accomplishment when all safety measures are followed.
Due to the nature of outrigger canoeing, paddlers must work together at all times to keep everyone safe. OutriggerSports requires all club members follow club rules.
Rule #1:
Only OutriggerSports USA certified steerspersons can check out club canoes.
Rule #2:
At no time will club equipment be used without an OutriggerSports USA certified steersperson onboard.
The club hosts five 1.5-hour open paddling sessions available to the Fremont, Broadway and Hawthorne level members. Hawthorne members pay $5 per session. Open practices are included with Fremont and Broadway memberships. Would you like to volunteer your steering expertise to the Open Practice program? Volunteer today.
The steersperson is the captain of the canoe, all paddlers on the canoe will follow the steerspersons instructions at all times. Steerspersons have the right to decline to take paddlers that may not have the ability to perform their appointed tasks.
